Technical posts come with no warranty — read this one
A large part of this site describes changes to servers, storage and networks: Proxmox, ZFS, LXC containers, backups, kernel updates. Those posts are a record of what worked on my hardware, at that time. They are not professional advice, and they are not tested against your setup.
Some of the commands published here can destroy data or take a system offline. Before you run anything from this site:
- Understand what the command does. Do not paste it because it appeared to fix someone else’s problem.
- Have a backup you have actually restored from at least once.
- Try it somewhere that does not matter first.
You run everything here at your own risk. I accept no liability for data loss, downtime, hardware damage, or any other loss arising from anything you read on this site.
Accuracy and age
Software changes. A post that was correct when written may be wrong a year later, and I do not revisit every old post when something upstream changes. Every post shows its publication date for exactly this reason. Nothing here is guaranteed to be current, complete or correct.
My content
The writing and photographs on this site are mine and are protected by copyright. You may quote a reasonable extract with attribution and a link back. Please do not republish whole posts, and please do not use this content to train or fine-tune machine learning models without asking me first.
Code and configuration snippets are published so that you can use them. Use them freely in your own work — the no-warranty section above still applies.

Comments are moderated and appear only after I approve them. I remove spam, advertising, personal attacks, and anything unlawful, and I do not owe an explanation for a comment I choose not to publish.
